Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be reachable on the Employees’ Retirement System Examiner 2 List or eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

To be eligible for a 70.1 transfer:
Interested candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to a salary grade 10 or above.

Duties Description • Reviews and calculates member records for accuracy and completeness. Ensures that the appropriate laws, service credit rules and procedures are applied, rejecting in valid requests and generating information for costs:
o Apply Retirement Laws, Comptroller’s Rules and Regulations, Federal and State Military Laws and bureau procedures to ensure all required data relating to the member has been provided and has been recorded accurately in the MEBEL and People Soft system.
o Correspond with Retirement System employers to validate current earnings or title and salary of the next higher position. Most of these letters can be computer generated through appropriate triggers, but some must be created through manual correspondence using a document template.
o Send rejection letters to member requests when not allowable.
o Add job and source data to member records.
o Use the Task Detail screen to maintain requested information.
o Calculate deficit in contributions for members retirement accounts.
o Reviews Mebel and People Soft screens and functions related to processing a Tier Reinstatement, Chapter 751, Service Credit Purchase and Military Service case, ensuring member has credit for all allowable service.
o Calculates payrolls for both State and non-State employment.
o Reviews CC2’s worksheets for accuracy.
o Reviews and closes cases that do not make changes to source data.
o Identifies and returns cases to CC2 for corrections if necessary

• Answer various questions to assist in the case processing and respond to phone calls:
o Be available to answer questions from members and employers. Work one on one with examiners to assist with processing of their assigned cases.

• Complete cases necessary to set up payroll deductions:
o Process payroll deduction requests and send correspondence.
o Send correspondence rejecting unacceptable payments.
o Review accounts to be sure that only one type of payment is being set up at a time.
