Duties Description The Environmental Specialist 2 would perform duties including but not limited to:
• Managing salt contamination claims – reviewing case information as provided by Regions, arranging for additional analysis and studies by consultants
• Coordinating information and data collection needs with the Regions pursuant to the Salt Contamination Investigation Procedure
• Determining cause of salt contamination and proposing options for remediation
• Overseeing compliance and conduction quality assurance reviews in regard to environmental regulations at facilities including MS4, Spill Prevention and Control Countermeasure plans, SPEDES Permit and PBS Compliance (permits and registration done by the Facility Capital Improvement Program)
• Represent OTM in investigation environmental contamination at maintenance facilities or from maintenance operations
• Advise managers of Maintenance Programs on environmental quality aspects of their program’s policies and practices
• Coordinate with the Roadside Maintenance Program Manager to jointly direct activities of the Regional MECs, set priorities and conduct MEC meetings
• Represent the Office at meetings and conferences with internal and external environmental offices, agencies and organizations
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Additional Comments *Although this position will report to Main Office, the incumbent may be assigned to work from a regional location.
*Telecommuting: The Department’s current telecommuting agreement is valid through December 31, 2022 and is subject to extension beyond that date.
