Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT:
• Candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State AND have one year of post-RN licensure clinical nursing experience.
• Transfer: Must have one year permanent service as a Nurse 2; OR Must have one year of permanent service in a title eligible for transfer under §70.1 per Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent of this Nurse 2 position will coordinate and deliver skill development topics such as Approved Medication Administration, Maintaining Health, CPR/First Aid and other topics to new employees and existing staff working in Long Island DDSO’s state operated facilities. The incumbent will serve as a support resource to other divisions and serve on committees as assigned. The Nurse 2 will play an integral role in the New Employee Orientation and Development Council processes. The Incumbent will attain designated training certifications and teach required courses as assigned.


• Plan, coordinate and instruct the Approved Medication Administration (AMAP) curriculum.
• Provide class delivery in both virtual and in-person spaces.
• Attain certification as an instructor-trainer in First Aid, CPR-AED, teach initial and refresher classes.
• Coordinate the LIDDSO PlusTrac AED certification and inspection program.
• Attain certification as an instructor in PROMOTE L1 & L2.
• Provide remedial medication administration training and testing.
• Attain expertise in the OMR 811 electronic process and provide related guidance to state operations nurses and supervisors.
• Schedule and teach New Employee related topics including but not limited to: AMAP, First Aid, CPR, maintaining good health and co-train other NEO classes as assigned and maintain all related paperwork. Provide new employees with assistance throughout NEO.
• Assist State Operations nursing with RN Orientation.
• Become highly proficient in the N95 fitment process. Liaise with State Operations nursing to provide initial and recurring fitment testing to all personnel.
• Assume all duties required of a Statewide Learning Management System administrator including but not limited to entering class attendance and providing records to auditing bodies.
• Attend agency Committee meetings, participate in work groups as assigned.
• Support the local Direct Support Development Council as a voting member.
• Serve as a nursing liaison to support departments.
• Coordinate and teach “train-the-trainer” classes to certify State Operations personnel as First Aid, CPR, and AED instructors.
• Serve as department administrative contact when required in lieu of Training Director/coordinator.
• Travel to LIDDSO state operated facilities will be required to accomplish some tasks.
• Occasional travel may be required to support classes in Queens and the NYC region.
• Virtual delivery of classes to NYC region may occasionally be required.
• A high level of computer proficiency is required with MS Office Applications (TEAMS, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel).

Additional Comments Please note:
This position may also be filled at the Nurse 1 level. Candidates hired at the entry-level title (Nurse 1) may be advanced to the full-performance level (Nurse 2) following satisfactory completion of one-year of service. To be eligible for appointment to Nurse 1, candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State, possess a limited permit to practice nursing in New York State, or be eligible to enter the examination for such license AND have a score that is reachable for appointment on the Nurse 1 eligible list. The hiring rate for Nurse 1 in this location is $92,869, which includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 14 ($49,202) along with any special salary treatments in effect for this position in this location, such as a Geographic Differential ($35,000), an Increased Hiring Salary ($5,641) and a Downstate Adjustment ($3,026).

Additional Comments:
