Minimum Qualifications Training Specialist Trainee 1 MH: a bachelor’s degree.
OR
70.1 Promotion/Transfer qualifications: Current or previous one-year permanent service in qualifying title.
Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 1 or 2
Training Specialist Trainee 2 MH: one year of service as a Training Specialist Trainee 1 MH; or a bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience in developing and delivering training programs to improve the knowledge and abilities of employees caring for and treating vulnerable persons in a mental hygiene setting.
OR
70.1 Promotion/Transfer qualifications: Current or previous one-year permanent service in qualifying title.
Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 2.
Training Specialist 1 (MH): successful completion of a two-year traineeship; or a bachelor's degree and two years of the experience required above for Training Specialist Trainee 2 MH.
OR
A Master's or higher degree in a human services field* AND one year of experience in developing and delivering classroom training involving concepts and techniques of care for vulnerable persons in a mental hygiene setting.
*Note: non-qualifying degrees include, but are not limited to: Criminal Justice, Political Science, Liberal Arts, and Business.
Duties Description • Develop and present standardized agency training courses for OPWDD employees, including courses that are part of New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• Coordinate New Employee Orientation by reaching out to new employees, contacting outside instructors, maintaining schedules and tracking completion of required courses.
• Attain certification as a PROMOTE Instructor Level 1, Level 2 and Restrictive Interventions.
• Attain certification as a First Aid, CPR, AED instructor through American Red Cross.
• Provide instruction in generalized courses such as supervisory training, computer classes, and courses specifically designed to address unique agency needs and requirements
• Analyze and review training compliance reports to determine employee and department compliance with mandatory trainings, report findings; make recommendations
• Inform employees and program managers of available training and educational opportunities
• Assist employees with registering for training in SLMS and oversee data entry to ensure compliance
• Maintain records/rosters of training activities
• Provide technical support with virtual platforms.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
• Assist the Direct Support Development Council to support employee development and retention.
