Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 6 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 as appropriate of the Civil Service Law.
Candidates must demonstrate adequate keyboarding skills by prior service in a keyboarding title OR successful completion of a Keyboard Specialist performance test.
*Successful completion of the two-year traineeship leads to appointment as an Administrative Assistant 1, SG-11.

Duties Description Duties may include but are not limited to:
• Provide administrative assistance with Veteran information.
• Establish work procedures, create schedules, and track daily assignments of clerical staff.
• Answer telephones, transfer calls, take messages, and provide information to callers.
• Open, read, route, and distribute incoming mail or other materials.
• Compose, type, and distribute various correspondence, meeting notes, and reports.
• Create, organize, and maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
• Resolve day-to-day operational problems.
• Interact with Veterans and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner.
• Efficiently utilize program databases, applications, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Perform tasks in an efficient, timely, and safe manner.
• Perform other duties and special projects as required.
