Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be currently permanent in the title of Physical Therapy Assistant 2.
OR
• Must be active and reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list for Physical Therapy Assistant 2.
OR
• Must be eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable by the NYS Department of Civil Service to the Senior Occupational Therapist AND meet the minimum qualifications as noted on the exam announcement*
*Must possess a License to practice as a Physical Therapist and one year of post-licensure physical therapy experience AND have two years of post-certification physical therapy assistant experience.
Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a Physical Therapy Assistant 2, you would, under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist or Senior Physical Therapist, administer a
variety of selected forms of physical therapy such as ultraviolet or infrared rays and massage; give patient instructions for simple exercises and
transfer procedures (e.g., bed to wheelchair) and clean and store equipment after treatment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, the PTA 2:
• Supports direct care staff by providing Safe Patient Handling trainings and other trainings as needed.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and inspects lift equipment. Performs basic wheelchair adjustments and repairs.
• Serves as a member of the Safe Patient Handling committee and participate in all meetings.
• Provides Physical Therapy interventions in the Article 16 Clinic to individuals with ID/DD.
• Gives patients simple instructions for exercises and transfer procedures (e.g., bed to wheelchair)
• Observes and reports progress
• Maintains documentation in the EHR
• Cleans and stores equipment after treatment

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
• You must have a valid driver’s license to apply as travel may be involved in performance of the duties of this position. This may include a state-owned vehicle, as available, or the employee’s own car. An employee who uses his/her own car will be reimbursed at current negotiated rates. You must also be proficient in various information technology systems as well as setting up and managing paper and electronic filing systems.
