Minimum Qualifications Thirty (30) semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description Incumbent will be responsible for the technical review and approval of license applications involving special uses of fish and wildlife for various authorized activities, including scientific research and conservation education purposes. Position requires familiarity with and knowledge of State and federally regulated fish and wildlife species, capture techniques and equipment. Incumbent will be required to record and tabulate species data for summary and review purposes. Review of licenses and reports will also be required to verify compliance with license conditions. Incumbent will communicate directly with the public concerning the uses of the State's fish and wildlife resources. Additionally, incumbent will communicate directly with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other State and federal offices, including DEC Law Enforcement, concerning the regulated use of the State's fish and wildlife resources. Incumbent will develop a working knowledge of applicable agency regulations and State environmental laws pertaining to the uses of fish and wildlife.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 03/31/2023. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
