Minimum Qualifications For Permanent Appointment: Reachable for appointment from appropriate Civil Service eligible list or eligible for transfer in accordance with Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law

Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, AND four (4) years of professional
financial experience in a healthcare field. One (1) year of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.
Substitution: master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field may substitute for one year of the non-supervisory experience.
Provisional Appointments will be considered; however, the provisional appointment candidate will be responsible to take the Civil Service Exam for this position (when next available) and must obtain a reachable score in order to be appointed permanent.

Duties Description The Supervisor of Veterans Homes Fiscal Administrator is the Director of the business/fiscal office and is responsible for overseeing the fiscal planning services; preparing Medicaid, Medicare, and Veterans' Administration cost reports; preparing various facility operating budgets; directing business office activities; and maintaining a working knowledge of reimbursement principles for all third-party payors, including changes in their policies and procedures on required reporting formats; responsible for establishing any new systems for identifying the facility's position relative to the authorized appropriation level for each fiscal year.
Additional Comments Salary includes: base salary, annual geographic pay and annual downstate location pay.
