Salary RangeFrom $88161 to $111111 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list used for filling this title; or, one year of permanent, competitive class service as a Senior Attorney; or, one year of permanent, competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Example of eligible titles include but are not limited to: Senior Attorney Realty. 52.6 transfers may be considered only if you have passed the NYS Bar Exam.
Duties Description The incumbent will work in the Legal Department of the Buffalo office of NYSIF, and will be engaged in and expected to perform duties and tasks related to New York's Insurance Law, No-Fault Law and Workers' Compensation Law, as well as the interplay between these laws and their associated rules and regulations. Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for investigating work-related motor vehicle accidents to determine whether they qualify for Loss Transfer reimbursement pursuant to Section 5105 of New York's Insurance Law. Following identification of qualifying cases, the incumbent will be responsible for instituting negotiations with various insurance carriers and filing arbitration claims when necessary. The specific tasks and duties related to the above will be to perform case review and analysis, research analysis, preparation of written demands and formal arbitration claims, as well as preparation for and appearance at arbitration proceedings.
