Minimum Qualifications You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program (see below), or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 52.6, 70.1, or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.

52.6 Transfer:
For a 52.6 transfer to a(n) Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in an approved 52.6 title allocated to a salary grade 16 or above.

70.1 Transfer:
For a 70.1 transfer to a(n) Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in an approved 70.1 title allocated to a salary grade 16 or above.

70.4 Transfer:
For a 70.4 transfer to this title, you must:
• have one year of permanent competitive service in a position allocated to a SG-16 or higher; and
• meet the current or anticipated open competitive minimum qualifications for this title; and
• not have failed the last promotion or open competitive examination for this title; and
• have passed an examination appropriate for this title and have standing on that eligible list.

Duties Description • Research new security techniques and methodologies.
• Provide security assistance to Chief Information Office (CIO) units in evaluating security controls and provide secure solutions.
• Research and respond to security related questions and exception requests.
• Assist with ServiceNow ticket requests.
• Assist with new technology reviews.
• Assist with the Redesign project needs, as required.
• Assist with Statewide Financial System’s (SFS’s) security needs, as required.
• Assist with meetings on various security related topics including, but not limited to, attending, organizing, taking notes, and assessing security controls.
• Research security related items for all agency projects.
• Assist with the development and implementation of the Office of the State Comptroller’s (OSC’s) security awareness program.
• Assist with training business units to classify information assets.
• Prepare security articles on security related issues that are important to OSC.
• Provide support and content for the security awareness program, as well as research security best practices for articles to include on the ISO website.
• Ensure participation, completion, and documentation of OSC’s Security Awareness training course.

Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated coursework in Information Security: Includes coursework such as security program management, information assurance, security policy, application security, risk management, security awareness programs, policy developments, incident response, security monitoring, vulnerability management, and penetration testing (6-11 credit hours).
• Demonstrated coursework in Security Fundamentals: Includes coursework such as fundamentals of operating systems, network, application and database security (6-11 credit hours).
• Working knowledge of:
o Security principals, information security, or information assurance.
o NIST Special Publications, FedRAMP Program, CIS Critical Security Controls, Security Policies, Access Controls (Data Protection), Vulnerability Assessment and Remediation, Encryption, or Malware Defenses.
• Demonstrated experience in researching and gathering security business requirements.
• Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
• Working knowledge of assessing risk.
• Strong analytical thinker with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate information technology and information security concepts.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
