Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

REASSIGNMENT QUALIFICATIONS: Current New York State Department of Labor employees with at least one year of permanent competitive, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as an Investigative Officer 4 Public Work Wage, Grade 25 if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current eligible list for this location, if one exists.

52.7 NON-COMPETITIVE PROMOTION (NCP) QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as an Investigative Officer 3 Public Work Wage, Grade 23. In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, if three or fewer qualified Department of Labor Investigative Officers 3 Public Work Wage, Grade 23 respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified candidates without further examination.

Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; this appointment will be competitive.

PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as an Investigative Officer 3 Public Work Wage, Grade 23. The appointed candidate would have to take, pass, and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.

52.6 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: One year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55b/c service in a Grade 23 or higher title determined to be administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

*Consecutive transfers cannot result in advancement of more than a two-salary grades or one M-grade.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: As an Investigative Officer 4 Public Work Wage in the Regional Office, under supervision of the Assistant Director Public Work Wage M-3, you would assist in the supervision and direction of the Public Work Upstate regional district offices throughout the State and ensure that program goals and performance standards are met.

Incumbents would be responsible for the following:

• oversee all areas of Bureau responsibilities in the geographic regions;
• review and coordinate area operations to insure uniform application of policies and procedures;
• provide direction and training on new policies and procedures;
• monitor special programs administered by the Division;
• prepare routine and special reports on the operations of the Division;
• supervise the staffing of the offices and evaluation of subordinate staff
• oversee complex or sensitive investigations.
• Answering phone calls and e-mails from public work participants (public owners, employers, architects, etc.) and give prevailing wage applicability opinions on behalf of the Director.

As this position requires travel, the appointee must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have a motor vehicle or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
