Minimum Qualifications Assistant Attorney 1, NS = 18: Law school graduation and/or eligibility for NYS Bar Admission.
Assistant Attorney 2, NS = 20: Admission to New York State Bar.
Assistant Attorney 3, NS = 22: You must have 12 months as an Assistant Attorney 2, or Admission to the NYS Bar and 12 months of subsequent satisfactory legal experience.
Senior Attorney, NS = 25: You must have 12 months as an Assistant Attorney 3, or Admission to the NYS Bar and 24 months of subsequent satisfactory legal experience.

Duties Description Under the supervision of an Associate Attorney, the Senior Attorney will provide a full range of technical legal services in support of Department programs. A significant portion of the work will involve providing assistance with the development of contracts, the solicitation of Requests of Proposals and Invitations for Bid. The position will also serve as a legal advisor to program administrators, policy analysts, and division staff in the day-to-day operation of these programs
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
• Provide legal advice and opinions to agency staff, complainants, and others in connection with the activities and services provided by the agency.
• Provide guidance and counsel to Department programs with respect to procurement of goods and services and/or the development of documents for grant programs.
• Negotiate and prepare various legal documents, such as contracts, deeds, and leases, with outside parties.
• Interact control authorities concerning procurement issues
• May perform supervisory duties as assigned.
