Minimum Qualifications Eligible for a lateral transfer or 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service as a Senior Attorney, G-25; OR

Promotional/Provisional Qualifications: one year of service as a Legal Assistant 1.

Open Competitive/Provisional Qualifications: a Bachelor's Degree in a paralegal or legal assistant program from a regionally accredited college or university or one approved by ABA OR an Associate's Degree in a paralegal or legal assistant program from a regionally accredited college or university or one approved by the ABA OR a certificate in a paralegal or legal assistant program from a regionally accredited college or university or one approved by the ABA AND one year of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.

Preferred Experience:
A minimum of one year experience working in a law office or legal department and familiarity with legal papers, including pleadings, subpoenas, discovery demands and motions.

Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to:
• Working under the supervision of the Director of Litigation for the Division of Legal Affairs (DLA), the Legal Assistant 2’s duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Assisting the Director of Litigation with the drafting and circulation of litigation hold memoranda.
• Under the supervision of the Director of Litigation, assist in the preservation and production of records for litigation, including, but not limited to, applying redactions, and conducting electronic searches, where necessary.
• Assist the Director of Litigation in the preparation of internal briefing documents, where necessary on litigation related issues.
• Assist the Director of Litigation and OTDA Deputy Counsels in collecting and organizing attorney work product in a central repository in a user-friendly way.
• Assist DLA generally in preparing responses to subpoenas, including assisting the Director of Litigation in challenging subpoenas that seek production of documents and testimony that the Agency contests.

Additional Comments A full-time permanent appointment will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title. Work hours for this position are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Depending on the nature of the job, the criminal convictions discovered, or any falsified or omitted information revealed, the investigative findings may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Please note that the selected candidate, should they continue to have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI), must submit to a mandatory reinvestigation every five (5) years.

If a provisional appointment is made, the appointee will be required to take the next holding of the Legal Assistant 2 examination and be immediately eligible for appointment from the eligible list in order to maintain continued employment in this position
