Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list,

Candidates must have permanently served at least one year in a title designated as appropriate for transfer in accordance with Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Transfer eligible titles include but may not be limited to: Office Assistant 2, Office Assistant 2 Calculations, Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding.
Provisional Qualifications:
Promotion:
Must be a qualified employee of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board with one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive, labor, or 55-b/55-c service in a clerical position allocated to a Grade 6 or higher.
Open competitive:
Either 1. 60 or more college semester credit hours AND one year of full-time qualifying experience*
Or 2. a high school diploma or GED AND two years of full-time general office experience AND ONE YEAR of full-time qualifying experience*
*Experience processing claims, examining claims, or adjusting claims; OR experience dealing with many different individuals on a continuous basis where VERBAL COMMUNICATION is the primary method used to resolve those individuals’ problems or issues or to explain policies, programs/services, or procedures to those individuals.
If appointed provisionally, the incumbent will need to take the next Civil Service examination for this title and pass with a score that will be immediately reachable on the resulting eligible list. Failure to take, pass and achieve a reachable score on the examination may result in revocation of the appointment.
Duties Description Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: process work assigned in CIS work queue accurately and in a timely manner; greet and provide general information to constituents; assist with WCB website online forms and applications; assist parties who require language access services when necessary; assist with voter registration; assist WCLJs and constituents with hearing process. When in-person hearings resume, assist with public use of computers to access eCase; receive and process documents and evidence for administration of claims. Some travel may be required to provide coverage in service centers.
