Minimum Qualifications You must have one year of permanent competitive service as a Food Inspector 2, G-23.
Duties Description As a supervisor, your responsibilities will include the direct, day-to-day supervision, training and motivation of all zone inspectors. This includes, but is not limited to, review of all inspections conducted within the zone, routinely working with all inspectors assigned to the zone, holding zone meetings, maintaining the Consumer Complaint Tracking system, reviewing Daily reports, handling legal actions, conducting audits, supervisory reviews, new inspector trainings, disseminate management directives and other tasks as necessary. Work assignments in this area are divided among food processors of all sizes and types, specialty processors (Seafood HACCP, Juice HACCP, etc.), warehouses, large grocery stores and convenience stores handling and processing potentially hazardous foods.
Additional Comments TRAVEL REQUIRMENTS: As occasional statewide travel may be necessary, appointees must either possess at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have access to a motor vehicle when necessary or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the regular transportation requirements in carrying out their field work responsibilities. The official station will be discussed at time of interview.
