Minimum Qualifications Promotion: Bachelor's degree and one year of permanent competitive service as an employee of NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

Supervisor Inmate Grievance Program Trainee (Equated to Grade 14): Must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service AND a bachelor’s degree.
Appointment from eligible list: After one year of the service described in the minimum qualifications, successful candidates will be qualified for appointment from the eligible list.
Duties Description Responsible for coordinating, supervising, and enforcing the incarcerated individual grievance program from the facility level, and when necessary, through the additional appellate process. This requires direct one-to-one and group contact with incarcerated individuals. You would inform the incarcerated individuals and facility staff of legal mandates concerning incarcerated individuals grievances and provide them with training regarding the program. You would also ensure that all necessary information regarding an incarcerated individual's grievance is available for consideration by the facility Superintendent and respond to questions regarding the legitimacy of grievances under this program. You would inform the staff and incarcerated individuals of changes in the program's policy and procedure.
