Duties Description The primary duties of the position consist of processing applications for environmental permits subject to the Uniform Procedures Act, primarily State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permits. Processing of permit applications includes reviewing applications for completeness, preparing supporting State Environmental Quality Review Act determinations, preparing public notices, preparing applicant correspondence, conducting meetings with applicants, and preparing permit decision documents. Preferred knowledge, skills, and experience include knowledge of New York State environmental permitting, demonstrated administrative skills, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to use a variety of information management systems, databases, and GIS. Performing the essential functions described above requires familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and ability to use desktop and laptop computing.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
