52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications:
To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as a Investigative Officer 1 Unemployment Insurance. If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor Investigative Officer 1 Unemployment Insurance respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified Investigative Officer 1 Unemployment Insurance without further examination.

Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.

Provisional Qualifications:
Investigative Officer 1, Investigative Officer 1 (Spanish Language), Unemployment Insurance Investigator, or Unemployment Insurance Investigator (Spanish Language). The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently. DOL Employees only. External candidates cannot be considered.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES: As an Investigative Officer 2 (UI), you would oversee the activities of a team of Investigative Officers 1 engaged in investigating allegations of Unemployment Insurance fraud, including alleged identity theft and fraudulent claims; provide training and mentoring to team members; assign cases for investigation; review and approve completed cases; serve as liaison with law enforcement and District Attorney offices in the geographical region; and prepare reports for management.

*Note: Telecommuting will be discussed at the time of interview.


Additional Comments This position may require a fingerprint background check prior to appointment.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.

Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.

Additional location pay is available for the following counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, NYC-Manhattan, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam.
