Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 22 or higher and either:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.4: Must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below;
or
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: One year of permanent competitive service as a Professional Engineer 1 (any parenthetical) with current NYS Professional Engineers License and current registration)
Open competitive minimum qualifications provided for 70.4 transfer eligible candidates:
Possession of a New York State Professional Engineer's License with current registration AND one year of engineering experience in the design and construction of parks, roads, bridges, recreational facilities, water and or wastewater treatment facilities.
Under New York State Education guidelines, all professional engineers must practice only in their area(s) of competency or they may be subject to disciplinary action.
Duties Description This position designs water, wastewater and site projects at DEC facilities. Duties include:
Preparing project estimates, contract drawings and specifications under the direction of a licensed engineer.
Complying with applicable building codes and authorities having jurisdiction.
Providing construction support from the office or field for design changes or contractor questions that arise during construction. This includes occasional overnight trips and visits to sites in remote parts of the state.
Conducting statewide field investigations and independently obtain all information required to complete project designs. This includes surveying, testing, structural analysis and permit compliance.
A background in water/wastewater design and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly preferred.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to work in remote areas. Travel may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
