Minimum Qualifications EITHER: 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list; OR 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2-Programming (SG-18); OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of the Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.

Duties Description The duties for this Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) include, but are not limited to, the following:
Working with end-users to define project and enhancement requirements through analysis and creation of agile user stories
Designing solutions using the ServiceNow platform that meets the needs of our users
Perform a full range of development and configuration activities including writing production ready code primarily in JavaScript, creating workflows, flow designer flows, business rules, access controls, REST methods, script includes, client scripts, Service Portal widgets, all within the ServiceNow platform
Modifying existing ServiceNow code, objects, and configurations to meet new business requirements
Performing unit testing, creating and running ServiceNow automated tests, and conducting code reviews of peer work
Supporting related integrations with other NYSTRS systems and third-party systems through creation and modification of REST APIs.
Documenting implementation methods within agile user story records
Assisting with testing platform upgrades to the latest version
Researching new features and functionality for recommendation to the business to improve existing business processes

The Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) will work in a team environment developing and configuring new applications and maintaining existing applications using the NYSTRS instance of the ServiceNow platform. Existing applications include:

IT Service Management (Incident, Request, Problem, Service Catalog, Contract Management)
IT Business Management (Ideation and Demand, Project, Portfolio, Agile Development, Test Management, Resource Management)
Discovery and Configuration Management
Facilities Service Management
Safe Workplace
Security Operations Vulnerability Response
Service Portal

This position will be assigned to the Workflow Solutions Development team in the IT Business Solutions Department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS-
Experience with administering and developing in the ServiceNow platform
Experience writing code using JavaScript, HTML, AngularJS and Bootstrap
At least one year of applied experience in application development
Knowledge in ITIL v3 standards, cloud concepts and architecture
Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
