Minimum Qualifications • Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.
• Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who has a good understanding of workplace technology, pays attention to detail and has hands on experience in graphic design tools. Technical writing experience is a plus.

• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and PowerPoint (3+ years).
• Strong familiarity with technology terminology and products.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• 2+ years of experience with e-newsletters, desktop/web publishing, graphics design.
• Excellent team player and proactive, positive attitude.

Duties Description The Information Technology Bureau (IT) within the New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking a dynamic, technology-savvy Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content) to assist with optimizing, streamlining and supporting the Bureau’s internal and external communications. Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Use native Microsoft Outlook as well as third party email marketing platforms (e.g. Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.) to create visually appealing technology communications.
• Draft and distribute technical communication material which may include project updates, PowerPoint presentations, annual reports, how-to guides and videos, policies/procedures, cyber security awareness content, among others.
• Participate in key IT operations and project meetings, including with other stakeholders throughout the organization, to take meeting minutes as well as to identify tasks related to communications.
• Participate and coordinate aspects of Change Management related to communication, task management, training, focus groups, customer experience tracking.
• Provide statistics on communications effectiveness and recommendations for improvement.
• Update SharePoint sites and Intranet web pages through the content management system.
• Participate in IT website redesign efforts.
• Other related office administrative support tasks as required including scheduling meetings, document preparation and other activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
