Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical trades.

Duties Description Will be required to perform maintenance, construction and rehabilitation work on infrastructure and facilities including educational camps, campgrounds, boat launch facilities, flood protection facilities, recreational facilities, road systems, foot trails, utilities, bridges and dams. Must have general knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades. Will be required to perform the described job duties/skills according to work orders or verbal instructions by inspecting the work site to determine materials, equipment, tool requirements, and method to be used; developing a plan or lay out for the project or following a blueprint or schematic; assembling, fabricating or building and installing materials, equipment, or fixtures as required by the scope of work. May be required to provide instructions to staff on project priorities, work schedules, equipment needs and health and safety issues. May be required to transport equipment to and from job sites for maintenance and construction projects at various locations throughout the Region. Must be willing and able to plan and lay out construction, maintenance and repair projects to be completed by department staff and/or by contract.

Procurement of supplies and materials purchased from vendors under state contract, as well as utilizing preferred sources as required. Obtain quotes for various projects and prepare purchase requisitions while following department guidelines and policies. May be required to administer and manage contracts with outside vendors. Track supplies, materials and equipment to ensure they are used properly. Responsible for accurate and timely submission of schedules, reports and work orders.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2023. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
