Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Must be permanent as an Office Assistant 3, be on the current list, or be in a permanent position eligible for transfer.
If list is exhausted, a provisional appointment may be made. You must meet the minimum qualifications and you must take the next scheduled exam (and have a reachable score to retain your position). Minimum qualifications to take exam are three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional* title allocated to Grade 7 or higher. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Experience in personnel/human resources and/or business administration. Proficient in NYSTEP, NYSELMS. Proficient in working with multiple databases. Skilled in Microsoft Suite.
Duties Description NATURE OF WORK & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs/oversees a variety of personnel functions. Manage the maintenance of a variety of personnel office records and databases, such as the personal history file, position control file, title folders, current subject files, health insurance application files, insurance claim files, correspondence files, and examination files; conduct new employee orientation sessions. Provide employees and managers with information on and interpretations of the agency’s personnel procedures and policies, the personnel transaction process, attendance rules, employee programs, or other aspects of the personnel system. Responsible for item control management and maintenance. Reviews all personnel transactions, monitors appointments and separations, maintain tickler file for status monitoring coordinate annual employee recognition program, prepares a variety of reports. Administers decentralized examinations, obtains budget waivers on positions. Serves as backup on PH Roster/Bill, Licensure, Fingerprinting, school contracts, and probationary leaves, benefits programs. Other duties as required.
