Minimum Qualifications Open to the Public:
Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and two years of post-licensure medical experience.

Transfer Opportunity – One year of service as a Clinical Physician 1, and possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State.

Duties Description Provides a variety of general medical care and treatment services to individuals.

Obtains, clarifies, reviews, updates, and records individuals’ information, such as medical histories, test results, diagnoses, prescribed treatments, and responses.

Conducts physical examinations; orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic
tests and procedures; determines and/or confirms diagnoses; and treats a variety of general medical conditions.

Prescribes and/or administers treatments, medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.

Conducts follow-up examinations, monitors individuals’ conditions, and modifies treatments as necessary.

Explains and discusses procedures, test results, diagnoses, and prescribed
treatments with individuals, families, and caregivers; and answers questions.

Refers individuals to other health care providers based on diagnostic and
treatment needs.

Participates in discharge planning; and collaborates with other health care
professionals and disciplines to achieve treatment goals and objectives, facilitate medical follow-up after discharge, and ensure continuity of care.

Maintains medical documentation consistent with agency, State, and federal
requirements.

Supervises individual care activities, and prescribes, orders, and oversees the
administration of treatments.

Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team and attends treatment team meetings.

Consults with and advises other licensed physicians, medical providers, and
health care disciplines on diagnoses and treatment plans; and reviews and
approves treatment recommendations.

Provides clinical supervision, guidance, and training to other medical
professionals, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, nursing, and direct care staff; and monitors the coordination and
implementation of care.

Reviews medical records to confirm diagnoses, and/or ensure that treatments
are appropriate for diagnoses and records are properly maintained.

May assign individuals and/or individual care activities to lower-level Clinical
Physicians and/or medical providers; approve leave and track time and
attendance; and complete performance evaluations.

Serves on various committees and workgroups to improve services and outcomes; and assists in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.

May develop, implement, and/or supervise training programs, and health care and treatment education programs.

Provides clinical supervision to lower-level Clinical Physicians and other medical providers.

May manage and supervise medical care and treatment services for an assigned facility, unit, or program; perform the full range of supervisory duties; and develop, implement, and revise clinical policies and procedures.

Additional Comments Job consists of time divided between 3 facilities; Highland, Brookwood, and/or Goshen

Salary Schedule for the position is as follows:

$112,890 - $128,180 - Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 36 Geographic Differential ($20,000) and an Increased Hiring Salary ($15,290).

Background Investigation Requirements:

1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.

2) All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.

3) For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
