Minimum Qualifications Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Program Administrator 1, Grade 23.

OR: New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title eligible for transfer to Health Program Administrator 1, Grade 23, under Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience working on grants and grant deliverables and understanding the priorities and concerns of a marginalized group. Reviewing information for completeness and accuracy; attention to detail; experience using Microsoft, excel and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and prioritize workload. The candidate should have experience working with Regional offices, state and federal agencies in some capacity.

Duties Description The HPA 1 will serve as the Refugee Health Coordinator and will be responsible for the statewide operation (exclusive of New York City) of the Refugee Health Program. Duties include partnership with federal colleagues from numerous agencies working on behalf of refugees; developing the annual budget request and justification for continuation of program funding; responsibility for providing quarterly and annual data to address Federal oversight requirements; interpreting and enacting Federal refugee health policy as it pertains to the provision of refugee health assessments, in coordination with state regulations, to ensure appropriate health services reach newly arriving refugees; coordination of regional activities for the Program.

Additional Comments Full-time, permanent, competitive position. Occasional travel, including to areas that may not be served by public transportation, may be required (20%). Transfer candidates may be asked for their social security number to verify eligibility.
