Minimum Qualifications This position is open to NYS employees with one year
permanent, competitive service as an Information Technology
Specialist 4, G-25, or in a title deemed eligible for transfer under
Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. This transfer
cannot be a second, consecutive transfer resulting in an
advancement of more than two grades. In order to qualify for a
Section 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of
permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title such as
Information Technology Specialist 4 (Database), G-25 and
Information Technology Specialist 4 (Systems Programmer), G-
25. In order to qualify for a Section 52.6 transfer, candidates
must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a
qualifying administrative title such as Assistant Director of
Financial Administration 1, G-25; Project Manager 2, G-25; and
Supervisor Administrative Analysis, G-25. Candidates reachable
on the eligible list will be considered through canvass and need
not apply.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Duties Description As the technical lead of the PSAdmin unit, the ITS4 will work in the Software Administration Bureau within the SFS Technology Division to provide technical expertise to SFS and other members of the PSAdmin unit.

The incumbent will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, tuning and administration of the primary software products and technologies that are essential to both the SFS agency and our customers. More specifically, SFS is built upon PeopleSoft software products in an environment consisting of Oracle PeopleSoft applications, Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle BI Applications, and Oracle Database; with components running under AIX, Linux and Windows operating systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Administering SFS system software including PeopleTools, PeopleSoft Financials, and Supply Chain Management including:
-SFS software installation planning and implementation.
-SFS software maintenance, patching and upgrades.
-Effectively troubleshooting and resolving problems with the PeopleSoft application or technical environment.
• Supervising and overseeing members of the software administration group responsible for the SFS PeopleSoft software components by:
-Ensuring effective utilization of staff, including mentoring, and evaluating staff performance (including training plans and performance evaluations).
-Transferring knowledge to co-workers.
• Assisting in scheduling and task coordination for quarterly patching, annual or bi-annual upgrades, and implementation of new features including:
-Participating in the maintenance and support for the SFS development, testing, and production environments.
-Maintaining multiple environments supporting the SFS development and testing migration path to production.
• Contributing to the design and planning for the overall SFS architecture by:
-Producing SFS system documentation and standard procedures for software administrators.
-Developing and overseeing SFS system level monitoring and operational procedures.
-Working with hardware and network service providers to meet SFS technology objectives.
-Working with software vendors to implement solutions and resolve issues.
• Collaborating with other SFS Divisions to ensure that the SFS system environments support project goals and objectives including:
-Working with other SFS Divisions to support SFS development, testing and operational activities.
• Other related duties as assigned.
