Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age and have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have dependable transportation and be able to work assigned shifts.
Duties Description This position will function as the Caretaker for Lake Durant Campground. Must be punctual, reporting for work on time. Shift work may be required when assigned to booth areas or shower building cleaning. Should expect to work all weekends and holidays during period of employment. Will be required to perform manual work in park such as picking up litter, raking, pushing lawnmowers, and cleaning comfort stations, rest rooms and buildings. Extra physical work may be required such as aiding in removing brush and firewood and/or moving canoes and rowboats. Must be able to communicate with others and accept direction. All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor. Must be well groomed, wear appropriate attire, including work shoes/close toed shoes. Issued clothing must be kept clean and worn while on duty. Must be even tempered and capable of communicating with the public. Provide patrons with information regarding park facilities and use. If assigned to booth: Must be able to handle and account for money and complete necessary Revenue Reports. Must be capable of operating a personal computer.
Will be required to monitor and oversee fee collection and verification activities. Will handle complaints or inquiries from park patrons regarding the quality of their experience, the cleanliness of facilities, noise from other facility users and other related customer service issues. May act as shift or area supervisor. Must live at the at the campground during period of employment. Will supervise 2 or more employees.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Must reside in State Housing.
These are temporary positions with a duration of through 11/30/23. Program needs will determine the actual end date of the position.
