Minimum Qualifications Reachable on the Employee Insurance Examiner 2 eligible list (Department of Civil Service employees only), OR eligible for Section 70.1 transfer

Provisional Appointment: One year of permanent competitive or non-competitive service as an Employee Insurance Examiner 1.

Duties Description The incumbent will be a first-level supervisor within the Program Administration Unit and will be responsible for the following duties:
• Explaining and interpreting applicable rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures in person or by phone to Health Benefits Administrators (HBAs) and enrollees.

• Providing assistance and guidance directly to enrollees regarding enrollment and eligibility in the New York State Health Insurance Plan (NYSHIP).

• Assigning work to subordinates and then reviewing for accuracy.

• Processing complex health insurance transactions and making necessary corrections to enrollment data.

• Reconciling enrollee and agency accounts to ensure that all premiums are properly collected.

• Preparing monthly narrative and statistical reports.

Additional Comments NOTE ON TELECOMMUTING: DCS employees may be approved for a maximum of 50% telecommuting, however, they are required to apply and obtain approval through management in accordance with DCS Telecommuting Program Guidelines.
