Duties Description Manage the Division of Operations programs assigned to Region 5 North. Establish work plans and priorities with the regional program managers and the Regional Director. Continuously evaluate and improve business processes, efficiencies, and effectiveness.
Manage staff located at numerous locations to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of the Division’s work. Includes, but is not limited to, training, supervising, evaluating, and counseling when appropriate.
Manage DEC’s response to citizen complaints and emergency incidents involving Region 5 Division of Operations. This includes working after-hours when needed.
Coordinate activities with interested stakeholders. Participate in meetings with the regulated community, other agencies, elected officials, volunteer organizations, and the public.
Address all administrative tasks required by the agency including permitting, timesheets, travel expense reports, budgeting, purchasing, asset management, records management, FOIL, mandatory training, internal controls, etc.
Keep the Regional Director and other DEC managers informed on program accomplishments, emerging issues, and potential significant incidents or visible issues through accurate and effective verbal and written communication.
Complete miscellaneous tasks that may be assigned by the Regional Director to fulfill the needs of the agency
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
