Duties Description The incumbent in this position is expected to work closely with the Regional Permit Administrator to provide policy oversight, guidance and management of the Region 1 Division of Environmental Permits. Duties include performing technical environmental analysis, research, and field investigations to determine the environmental impact of complex projects that are of regional significance and have the potential for significant environmental impacts; aid the RPA as liaison between the DEP and Regional Director, the Office of General Counsel, Natural Resources, Operations, DEC Albany, representatives of federal, state and local agencies and the public; act as directed by the Regional Permit Administrator and Regional Director on matters including emergency response, major development projects and support of enforcement cases; supervisory responsibilities including direct supervision of Environmental Analyst 2 managers and indirect supervision of their staff, timely performance evaluations, workload distribution, internal controls, training and staff development. Duties will include supervision, in addition to involvement in the hiring and recruitment process. The candidate must be well organized, able to multi-task, set priorities and communicate effectively.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

Location pay is $3,026.
