Minimum Qualifications Current NYS Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Contract Management Specialist 1 (G18), OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 52.6, Section 70.1, or Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to a Contract Management Specialist 1 (G18), Contract Management Specialist Trainee 1 (NS), or Contract Management Specialist Trainee 2 (NS). Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will be proficient in all aspects of the Department of Health grant contract process and with Microsoft Office products; demonstrate excellent word processing and fiscal management skills; communicate effectively orally and in writing; be well-organized and able to work under pressure on multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency; demonstrate ability to work effectively as a member of the team.
Duties Description Under the supervision of higher-level administrators, the position will be responsible for all aspects of contract-related activities. The incumbent will work with considerable independence within the scope of assignments, which include tasks such as: receiving and reviewing applications and proposals; preparing work plans and budgets for inclusion in contracts; reviewing and monitoring contractor compliance with applicable fiscal and program policies; performing other duties related to compliance with M/WBE requirements; participating in intra-agency work committees and implementing programs and related policies and procedures; reviewing and approving requests for budget modifications, contract extensions and other contract modifications; initiating, reviewing and approving transaction is the New York Statewide Financial Services System; reviewing and approving progress reports, vouchers and supporting materials; maintaining appropriate record keeping of contracts; providing training and technical assistance to contractors as needed; conducting stie visits and preparing related reports; recommending and following-up on corrective action as needed; perform general administrative duties as required.

Permanent, Competitive Full Time. This is a two-year traineeship beginning at a G13 and leading to a G18. Transfer candidates may be asked for their SS# to verify eligibility.
