Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. This position will perform most of their job duties in the outdoor work environment. Must obtain a CDL class A within 12 months of Appointment.

Duties Description A Trades Generalist uses the hand tools, portable power tools, heavy equipment, shop equipment, measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the craft or crafts to which they are assigned.

This position requires a knowledge of methods, material, tools and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which they are assigned, and knowledge of applicable standards and plumbing and electrical code regulations.

The incumbent will be required to use the tools,machines, equipment, and material of the craft and/or crafts to which they are assigned; transport and operate heavy equipment; train and supervise others; plan and lay out work and diagnose problems; and understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

The Trades Generalist will be the lead trades-person in the construction and maintenance of buildings, boardwalks, docks, sign standards, kiosks, trails, parking areas, fishing access and hunting sites.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must provide 24-hour response on a rotational basis and work during normal business hours. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2024. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
