Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as an Environmental Program Specialist 1 (including trainees), Program Aide, Administrative Specialist 1, Biologist 1 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine), (Wildlife), Public Participation Specialist 1, Environmental Analyst 1 and Trainee 1 & 2, Environmental Engineering Technician 2 & 3, Fish and Wildlife Technician 3, Legal Assistant 2, Mineral Resources Technician 2, Pesticide Control Specialist 1 & 2, Public Health Specialist 2 Environmental, Sanitary Construction Inspector 2, Senior Engineering Research Editor.
55-b/55-c Candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below and include with their resume or application, a copy of the letter from Civil Service which indicates approval for the 55-b/55-c program.

Must possess excellent communications skills including in person, telephone, virtual meeting, listening, presentation, and written communications. Experience communicating with diverse community-based organizations, disadvantaged or environmental justice communities is preferred.
Duties Description The EPS1 is an essential member of the outdoor recreation team, working with the Director of Outdoor Recreation and staff across the Department to coordinate and develop activities involving outdoor recreation.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate established annual statewide events and programs and assist in the development of new programs that engage the full range of New Yorkers in access to the outdoors and participation in outdoor recreation activities.
• Work internally with the Department to produce effective and inclusive communications materials, including social media, email newsletters, and other digital content and printed materials related to outdoor recreation.
• Attend conferences, expos, and community events to promote the Department’s outdoor recreation efforts and programs.
The position requires the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including representatives of other Department program divisions, other State agencies, external partners, and members of the public.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
