Minimum Qualifications Permanent competitive service as a Recreation Worker
OR
70.1 Promotion/Transfer qualifications (Recreation Assistant): At least one year of permanent
competitive service as a Direct Support Assistant, Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment
Aide 1, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Therapy Aide, Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or
Teaching Assistant.
OR
Must be current in certification of AMAP, PROMOTE, First Aid, CPR and all SLMS online
Mandatory Trainings.
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Treatment Team Leader for Various Group Homes, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
• Will work with the DA 3 to design, develop, implement, deliver and assist in implementing recreation to enhance the individual's well being.
• Will be responsible for the organization and direction of therapeutic recreation programs including sports, dance, music, art, social and volunteer activities.
• Will conduct activities, review and evaluate program effectiveness for the individuals served, and recommend changes or specialized activities as required in accordance with staff action plans and the wishes of program participants.
• Will also be required to promote community inclusion broaden the range of choices/options an individual has and encourage the active participation of individuals within their community including developing volunteer opportunities and maintaining relationships with volunteer sites.
• Will ensure compliance with regulations for 12 community inclusions per individual in each group home.
