Candidates must possess a current license and registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and two years of registered nursing experience in the following areas: rehabilitation, medical/surgical, public health, community health, visiting nursing, occupational health, utilization review, or review of medical records from hospitals for appropriate ICD 9 or 10/DRG/PAS/CPT coding.
If appointed provisionally, employees will need to pass the next Registered Nurse 2 (Medical Care) examination and be reachable in order to receive a permanent appointment.
Duties Description Under the direction of the Supervising Medical Care Rep, handles medical issues for claims owned by the various work groups managed by the No Insurance and Disability Benefits unit. Incumbent of this position will: review and prepare Level 1 responses to prior authorization requests submitted through OnBoard: Limited Release; review medical bills to determine if the claim and medical condition have been established as compensable and apply the proper fee schedule if so; review claims that have not been established to determine if an independent medical exam is warranted and coordinate scheduling as well as communication with Legal Hearings Unit; and coordinate other medical services and costs (i.e.; transportation, home health care, durable medical equipment etc.) as needed.
Additional Comments Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at Step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($67,897- $86,140) and an additional Geographic Pay Differential of $20,000.
