Permanent qualifications: Candidates must currently be a permanent Program Aide

OR be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list

Transfer qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Provisional qualifications: Candidates must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a G-5 or higher clerical, secretarial, keyboarding or paraprofessional** title set in an office environment. Qualifying titles are available
**Only paraprofessional titles in an office environment will be considered qualifying. Service in a direct care title is not qualifying experience. Examples of non-qualifying titles are: Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1; Direct Support Assistant; Food Service Worker 1; Licensed Practical Nurse; Mental Health Therapy Aide; and Security Services Assistant.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This Program Aide (PA) will provide support for the Taconic district and is tasked with analyzing operations and systems, recommending improvements, and developing methods to implement those changes. The PA will report to the cross-district DA3 to ensure projects are undertaken based on priorities established by both the local and statewide strategic plans, driven by data and best practices, and outcome focused.



PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to
• Conducting studies, analyzing, and evaluating the functions of the organization, and developing recommendations
• Assisting management in identifying and resolving administrative and supervisory problems
• Working with the residential teams and the Staffing Department to assess staffing patterns, deployment trends, and new employee transitions to better improve utilization of limited staffing resources.
• Providing support for the residential teams as a liaison with Human Resources in the area of recruitment strategies, hiring practices and retention mechanisms; assess systems, improve efficiencies, recommend methods to increase Taconic's workforce and retention percentages
• Coordinating with the Lean administrator in Central Office to identify operational areas between divisions that could be streamlined, and the workload decreased for direct support assistants and supervisors.
• Reviewing, coordinating, and updating local protocols and methods as needed
• Assisting in the development and implementation of systems as they relate to improving communication and collaboration among the residential teams and support divisions
• Performs additional duties as requested.

Additional Comments *Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of statutory hiring rate ($50,347) and Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,543). The Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,543) is also added to job rate ($61,330).
