Provisional Qualifications:
One year of permanent competitive service as a Children and Family Services Specialist 1, Children and Family Services Specialist 1 (Minority Group), Child Protective Services Specialist 2, Youth Counselor 1, Youth Counselor 1 (Spanish Language), Youth Counselor 1 (Cadet) or Licensed Master Social Worker 2.
Duties Description
Incumbent will be involved in the overall operations of the of the Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY), Bureau of Management and Program Support. Incumbent will report directly to the Bureau Director.
Incumbent will assist in reviewing facility videos based on Reportable Incidents and liasing with the NYS Justice Center, evaluating staff performance with relation to policy and procedure via video reviews, assisting in Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, providing oversight to the Community Alert Network for facilities, drafting and updating policies as they relate to Facilities Management, coordinating activities and tasks, providing supervision as needed to subordinate staff and assisting the bureau director with any and all related tasks and special projects as needed.
Responsible for the management of assignments related to DJJOY operated facilities, understanding and utilizing agency and statewide data bases, monitoring the timely responses to reportable incidents and the quality of their resolution, fulfilling on-call responsibilities as it relates to the bureau, as needed.
Member of a team that assists the Associate Commissioner for Facilities Management with implementation of new initiatives and special projects which support the agency mission and priorities.

Additional Comments Background Investigation Requirements:
1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
2) All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.
3) For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
