Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list.

OR

Candidates must have permanently served at least one year in a title designated as appropriate for transfer in accordance with Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description Investigator assigns work in a timely manner and pays attention to priority assignments.
Instructs & trains new investigators in the techniques of effective investigation through lectures and on the job field instruction. Trains in proper usage of computer applications and resources.
As supervisor, review and monitor investigations to insure that the investigator has conducted complete and thorough investigations in a timely manner.
As an investigator personally handles special investigations and sensitive areas of enforcement.
Spot checks completed reports to check on accuracy and depth of investigation. Periodically checks daily reports for accuracy. Advises investigators of corrections if needed.
Conduct field visits and manages own caseload in timely and efficient manner.
Communicates clearly with employees and employers daily while in the field and from the office. Investigator instructs them on the requirements of the Workers’ Compensation Law.
Investigator evaluates the work of the investigators under his supervision for completeness by accompanying them in the field. Deficient work is discussed with the investigator and returned for corrections.
