Minimum Qualifications NYS employee with current permanent or contingent/permanent status with one year of service as a Human Resources Specialist 2 or Human Resources Specialist 2 (Labor Relations). Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law or reachable for appointment from appropriate Civil Service list.
Preferred Qualifications: Customer service approach to problem solving and dealing with people; strong planning, organizational, writing, communication and computer skills. Familiarity with Civil Service Law rules and regulations; collective bargaining agreements, State and Federal Laws/Regulations relating to Human Resources functions, etc.
Duties Description Oversee Human Resources Department in long-term care facility including position classification and compensation, recruitment (including marketing and advertising needs), employee selection processes, employee orientation, labor relations, workplace health and safety, affirmative action, contract administration, investigation of grievances and recommendations for Notices of Discipline in a long-term care setting. Other responsibilities include providing training, guidance and support to managerial/supervisory staff relative to employee counseling, absenteeism control, performance evaluations, and investigations. Maintain required employment records, assist with administration of employee benefits, provide data to support administrative needs and other related duties as assigned.
Additional Comments Travel includes traveling to Job Fairs and/or Human Resources events. All employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and comply with any testing and future vaccination mandates.
The NYS Veterans Home at Batavia is a 126-bed skilled nursing facility serving Veterans and eligible family members.
