Duties Description The incumbent will oversee the Region 1 Inactive Landfill Program and implementation of groundwater monitoring at active and inactive landfills and compost and mulch processing facilities. Specific duties will include evaluating the design, permitting, construction, and operation of solid waste management facilities and other complex projects; conducting facility inspections and complaint investigations including illegal disposal sites; providing technical guidance to facilities, the public, and other divisions; preparing and responding to written correspondence, making public presentations, and interacting with the public and interested community groups in relation to projects; effectively communicating verbally and in writing; approving technical documents submitted by licensed professional geologists and engineers; generating the required reports; initiating legal actions against facilities or entities in non-compliance with regulations; and providing supervision and guidance to lower-level engineers and other technical staff within the division. The incumbent must be able to travel independently to and within facilities.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.

Location pay is $3,087.
