Provisional Qualification:
Candidates must possess a current license and registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and two years of registered nursing experience in the following areas: rehabilitation, medical/surgical, public health, community health, visiting nursing, occupational health, utilization review, or review of medical records from hospitals for appropriate ICD 9 or 10/DRG/PAS/CPT coding.
If appointed provisionally, employees will need to pass the next Registered Nurse 2 (Medical Care) examination and be reachable in order to receive a permanent appointment.
Duties Description The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the following:
• Conducting medical necessity reviews of all prior authorization requests for treatment/procedures and/or testing to determine the medical necessity of treatments requested for injured workers in accordance with evidence based Medical Treatment Guidelines to determine if the request meets the criteria for approval in accordance with Section 324 of Title 12 NYCRR (MTG Variances & Special Services) and Section 441 of Title 12 NYCRR (Drug Formulary) and 442.2 (Durable Medical Equipment)
• Collaborating with MDO staff and providers to ensure continuity of care for injured workers
• Drafting & issuing Notices of Resolution for all assigned prior authorization requests
Additional Comments Posted salary range ($99,342 - $108,721) includes the statutory hiring rate at Step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($69,934 - $88,721) and an additional Geographic Pay Differential of $20,000.
A hybrid telecommuting schedule can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview.
