Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of an Associate's degree;
A minimum of two (2) years' experience in higher education;
Strong communication skills - written, oral, and interpersonal;
Strong problem solving skills;
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks;
Ability to work a flexible schedule during peak periods, including evenings and weekends.
Knowledge of computerized higher education financial aid systems;
Knowledge of Federal and State financial aid programs;
Experience processing financial aid using the Ellucian Banner system;
Experience working with a diverse student population.
Duties Description The Financial Aid Assistant/Scholarship Coordinator provides excellent customer service and support to students, parents, SUNY Old Westbury staff, and the general public regarding financial aid programs and the application processes.
Provides outstanding customer service as well as support for excellent student experiences;
Responds to students and parents questions regarding financial aid - in person, phone, and email;
Assists students and parents with the completion of the FAFSA and TAP forms;
Reviews the FAFSA and TAP forms to ensure they are complete and accurate;
Updates and maintains the Old Westbury Financial Aid webpages;
Reviews Call Center tickets, responds to ticket(s) or forwards to the Advisors when necessary. After responding to ticket(s ), closes the ticket(s);
Participates in departmental coverage at the Student Success Center;
Assists with special projects as assigned by the Director and/or Assistant Director.
