Minimum Qualifications Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as a Senior Accountant, G18 OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title at or above G18 and eligible to transfer to Senior Accountant, G18 under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in an accounting, auditing or fiscal traineeship at the G14 or G16 level and eligible to transfer to an Accountant Traineeship under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience utilizing Statewide Financial System (SFS). Knowledge of OSC's Guide to Financial Operations (GFO) and NYS Procurement rules. Experience working with large sets of data: finding trends, reconciling, and testing for accuracy. Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Suite, particularly in Excel and Access. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Duties Description This position will report to an Associate Accountant in the Bureau's Credit Card Unit coordinating the processing of credit card applications and the reconciliation of credit card transactions for all DOH program areas. Duties include, but are not limited to: Review and approval of credit card applications; oversight of monthly packages of cardholder supporting documentation; reviewing documentation for accuracy and compliance with established rules and regulations; communicating with cardholders on items not in compliance and provide proper guidance; and assist supervisor with other related tasks as necessary.
Additional Comments The tasks performed in this position require current computer skills (e.g. knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel) and excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
