Duties Description The Forester 2 will assist conservation easement program leadership with the management and oversight of more than 900,000 acres of DEC held conservation easements; provide assistance to regional DEC staff with monitoring and inspections of working forest conservation easements; coordinate planning efforts and implementation of public recreational access on conservation easement lands; serve as Lands and Forests lead in the review and approval of recreation management plans; assist DEC staff with negotiating and acquiring of new conservation easements; lead the development and review of baseline documentation reports for new easements; review conservation easement work plans and stewardship agreements; prepare a wide range of maps using ArcGIS; serve as the liaison between DEC’s Division of Lands & Forests and Office of Communication Services in promoting public recreational opportunities on DEC held conservation easement lands across New York State.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
