Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or a related field and three years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field, or a Master's degree in the appropriate field and two years of such experience; or a doctorate in the appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of genetics and understanding of clinical testing at the bench level. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Duties Description Under the direction of a higher-level Research Scientist, the incumbent will provide oversight, critical analysis and research on Newborn Screening (NBS) testing algorithms and laboratory data to ensure the LIMS is operating accurately and efficiently. Activities will include improving screening algorithms, optimizing methodologies, and developing new testing algorithms based on data analytics. The incumbent will also manage the transmission, receipt, and processing of hospital-provided infant demographic data, along with the development and implementation of the next phase of HL7 messaging, with the end goal of quality improvement and reduced turn-around-times.
