Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work independently and in teams to carry out tasks to completion, use of MS Office Suite, and problem-solving skills.
Duties Description The Office Assistant 2 will perform a variety of administrative and support duties, including, managing schedules and calendars for program leadership, manage schedules and appointments, prepare and mail correspondence, answer and direct phone calls and emails, file and organize documents, manage office supplies and equipment, provide administrative support to staff, creating and maintain presentations, conducting research and compiling data, and proof reading and editing documents.
Additional Comments Contingent-Permanent, Competitive, Provisional, full-time. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility. If three or fewer NYS DOH promotional candidates respond to this posting, the agency may, at its discretion, nominate a qualified employee for non-competitive promotion under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the NYS Civil Service Law. Employees must have one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent service as described above. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title. Candidates being considered under this provision must not have either failed to pass, or failed to apply for (if qualified), the last holding of the Office Assistant 2 examination, #38-687, held on November 5, 2022. Provisional appointees will be required to apply for and take the next Civil Service examination announced for this title, and achieve a high enough score to be immediately appointable from the resulting eligible list, in order to maintain employment.
For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
