Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, and either: satisfactory completion of a two-year traineeship or two years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.
*Substitution: A master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for one year of the specialized experience. A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications: To perform those responsibilities, the requirements include experience working with large statewide administrative relational databases such as NYSIIS and fluency in SAS or related statistical software. Experience with NYSIIS, public health experience, ability to effectively work independently as well as part of a team, experience with statistical analysis methodologies and SQL would be preferred.
Duties Description 1)Utilize data from NYSIIS to conduct high level analytics to identify indicators for children who are at risk for being under-immunized (25%)
Write logic requirements and SAS code for defined indicators, and perform data validation to ensure accurate measurements; runs reports routinely to monitor progress with the defined indicators; share internally within the bureau and department the findings;
reaches out to applicable NYC jurisdictions and programs to address the data gaps
2)Determine geographic areas of under-immunization and support data-driven program activities to increase vaccination coverage levels, including identifying issues with provider reporting to NYSIIS (25%)
Conduct analysis to identify specific locations (counties, zip codes) and programs with under-immunization; support development of data-driven program activities to increase immunization; identifies issues associated with provider reporting and support activities to reach out to providers
3)Support EMR venders and practices that choose to data exchange with NYSIIS (25%)
Communicate with EMR vendors related to data exchanges with NYSIIS; supports activities to initiate and maintain the data exchanges;troubleshoots issues in exchanges
4)Conduct other analysis on NYSIIS and/or other applicable databases (25%)
Conduct other analysis on NYSIIS and or match to other applicable databases; performs data analytics and generate reports to support quality improvement activities to maintain a complete, accurate, and timely data sets; summarizes results, creates written reports;
collaborates with staff to develop applicable program solutions.
