Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field and five (5) years managerial experience in Information Technology including oversight of budgeting, planning, and personnel matters for multiple units within an Information Technology organization

Or
An associate's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field and six (6) years of managerial experience in Information Technology including oversight of budgeting, planning, and personnel matters for multiple units within an Information Technology organization

Or

Seven (7) years of managerial experience in Information Technology including oversight of budgeting, planning, and personnel matters for multiple units within an Information Technology organization.

Duties Description The Director of the IT- Business Solutions Department is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Responsible for the preparation and approval of the departmental budget
Provide technical advice, guidance, direction, and authorization for IT projects and procedures
Responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing IT policies, standards, procedures, and methodologies and ensure compliance
Assess and plan IT Business Solutions staffing needs to meet organizational and departmental strategic objectives
Responsible for ensuring staff training needs and development are accommodated
Oversee all staff related HR issues
Actively participate in enterprise project review/advisory committees
Manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure proper service contracts are in place
Review and approve contracts and purchase agreements
Maintain organization’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies
Evaluate business units and members needs and choose appropriate application solutions
Work jointly with the Director of Information Technology – Technical Services to ensure total awareness of all information technology initiatives and strategic plans
Collaborate with IT Technical Services Management and Business departments to understand business needs, goals and priorities
Directs research of available business solution platforms including hosted solutions by studying organizational goals, strategies, practices and projects
Oversees quality assurance of applications to ensure accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of applications to be used at NYSTRS
Assist with audits of Information Systems

Additional Comments POSITION SUMMARY-Manage the NYSTRS IT-Business Solutions Department . This encompasses all departmental functions including, but not limited to, budgeting, personnel planning, review/approval of technological strategies, supervision of daily operations, customer service, quality assurance, supporting business processes and critical business solutions.
