Minimum Qualifications For Permanent Appointment: Reachable on the Civil Service Eligible List for Administrative Assistant 1, OR current NYS Employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent status as an Administrative Assistant 1, OR in a position allocated to a grade 6 or above and eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

For Provisional Appointment: One year or more of permanent competitive or 55-b/c service as an Office Assistant 1 OR in a clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher. A comprehensive list of qualifying titles is available at:

Candidates must demonstrate adequate keyboarding skills by prior service in a keyboarding title OR successful completion of a Keyboard performance test.

*Successful completion of a two-year traineeship leads to appointment as an Administrative Assistant 1, SG-11.

Duties Description This position is in the Real Property Bureau in our Albany office.

• Type or draft correspondence, reports, legal documents, and memoranda based on verbal and/or written instruction.

• Open, sort, proofread, and separate litigation mail, enter in Bureau database and distribute to appropriate staff.

• Update, monitor and track the status of litigation files in NYMatters.

• Schedule appointments and meetings.

• Calendar court dates, motion return dates, and other deadlines regarding litigation files.

• Use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and the Bureau’s case tracking database.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
