52.7 NON-COMPETITIVE PROMOTION (NCP) QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service as an Associate Industrial Hygienist, Associate Safety and Health Inspector, Professional Engineer 1 (Industrial), Senior Safety and Health Engineer, or Supervising Safety and Health Inspector.

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, if three or fewer qualified Department of Labor Associate Industrial Hygienist, Associate Safety and Health Inspector, Professional Engineer 1 (Industrial), Senior Safety and Health Engineer, or Supervising Safety and Health Inspector respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified candidates without further examination

Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; this appointment will be competitive.

PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for Provisional, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service as an Associate Industrial Hygienist, Associate Safety and Health Inspector, Professional Engineer 1 (Industrial), Senior Safety and Health Engineer, or Supervising Safety and Health Inspector.

Duties Description Standard Duties:
The incumbent will provide assistance and guidance in the operation of the program. This includes coordination of staff development and training, preparing interpretations of rules and regulations, support of the strategic plan through review and coordination of activities, and performing case file audits to improve inspection consistency across the state and to ensure adequate case file documentation.

Additional Comments Candidates that will be new to the Division of Safety and Health who will be a trainee and/ or will have a probationary period will be required to work in the office for one year. Once this timeframe has been successfully completed, telecommuting options will be discussed.

This position may require a fingerprint background check prior to appointment.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.

Additional location pay is available for the following counties: Bronx, Kings, Nassau, NYC-Manhattan, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam.
